Yes we did! May the next 4 years be better than those we suffered under "W". Congrats, Barack.

Congratulations, Barack Obama! Over the last few weeks, my friends and I have called several thousand potential voters for you. We have debated issues with friends and family for you. We stood in line for over 4 hours in 40 degree weather to hear you speak in Central Florida at midnight. We have put our faith in your promises that you will bring change to Washington and restore our trust in the government.

It is now your duty and obligation to fulfill those promises and prove that our efforts were not in vain. I look forward to the next 4 years being brighter than the last 8 - although, there’s only one direction to go from the rock bottom where we’re at!

Thank you to the other volunteers that gave their time, passion and enthusiasm to bring about a change in this country.

There are only seven days left until election day. Many states are offering early and absentee voting. Use these links to find locations near you where you can vote early and avoid the lines on November 4.

It’s been awhile since I have had a few minutes to sit down and post something. Most of my free time is spent working the phones at the local Obama campaign office and the rest is spent trying to get friends and family to get out and vote early. Here in Florida, early voting started on October 20 and is open until November 2. If you live in Florida and want to avoid the long lines on November 4, find your early voting location.

This election is a critical point in the history of America. We have suffered tremedous economic hardships recently and things are not going to improve overnight. We need to be sure the person in charge of America’s future understands and respects every citizen. Don’t stay home — get out and vote!

While the deadline is fast approaching for absentee ballots, many states are still offering early voting. Get more information about voting in your state.

Just as important as your vote is your time. If you have even a little bit of time to spare before election day, please consider volunteering for Barack Obama’s campaign. Every phone call, every knock on a door, every person you speak to on the street could be the deciding vote in this year’s election. Be a part of it! Get out and encourage friends, family and neighbors to vote early and vote Obama - Yes We Can!

With the amount of garbage you get in the media every day, it is refreshing to see videos that lay out the facts. This video exclusive from Funny or Die parodies Sarah Palin and hits the issues dead on.

If you’ve read my blog, you know I am not a fan of the Republicans right now. And, much of what they say changes from year to year, minute to minute. There have been countless videos on the Internet parodying the various political figures, but the newest one at Funny or Die just knocked off the Paris Hilton video (below) as my favorite.

I have this video starring Gina Gershon posted in the “Featured Video” block on the site, but am including it here for future viewing. Gina does a great job as Sarah Palin and her comments are so spot-on I was laughing out loud the entire clip!

After getting an error message when trying to sync video podcasts to my iPhone, I went on a search through the Internet to find a solution. Here is what I found.

I downloaded a few video podcasts through iTunes today, but when trying to sync them to my iPhone 3G, I was given the error message:

“<podcast name> was not copied to the iPhone “<name of iPhone>” because it cannot be played on this iPhone.”

Thanks to the forum, I was able to get these podcasts synced. Here are the steps I used that now have the video podcasts syncing and playing on my iPhone. (note: I’m running Windows XP SP3, iTunes 7.7.1.11 and iPhone 3G v2.0.2)

Download podcast episode(s) from iTunes

Right-click on an episode and select “Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone”

Connect the iPhone and click to select it

Under “Movies” select the converted podcasts to be synced

The conversion process can take some time. The podcasts I selected were about 15 minutes each and took almost their run time to convert.

Obviously this can become time consuming and is not what most users expected when trying to sync a podcast to the iPhone. In an ideal configuration, the iPhone would play the podcasts in the original format and no conversion would be necessary. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update.

We all do it. We sit in front of the TV non-stop watching reporters say the same things over and over again. Here's a way to break the monotony during those tropical weather times.

The Orlando Sentinel had a great blog posted on Monday (Aug 18) by RichardTribou with an interesting way to spend the time while waiting for a tropical storm or hurricane to pass through. He says, “Get your beverage of choice and sit back and ride out the storm.”

Here’s a few of the rules for the game:

If a newscaster uses the words “hunker down,” drink.

Whenever there’s a new advisory from the National Hurricane Center, drink.

If the TV shows a traffic jam with thousands of cars heading in the same directions, drink. Drink twice if you see one car heading in the opposite direction.

You get the idea! Wanna play? Hurricane Drinking Game

All of Florida has eyes to the skies waiting to see if Tropical Storm Fay is headed our way.

According to the 5pm reports today, most computer models are predicting Tropical Storm Fay will cross Florida and then make a u-turn and come back across the middle of the state. Click on the graphic to see the latest computer models from wunderground.

As of 5:30pm, the local Fox news station reports: “At least seven Central Florida school districts have canceled classes for Tuesday, August 19. Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Sumter counties have suspended classes due to the approaching storm. Tuesday will be an early release day for all public schools in Marion County, where students will be released two hours early. Parents should make appropriate arrangements. No other counties in Central Florida have announced closures as of Monday afternoon. ”

We are just watching and waiting to see which way this storm will go. Computer models have changed dramatically over the last 48 hours and I don’t think the forecasters quite know what to expect. We have plenty of water and dried foods. Locals tend to always prepared - whethers it’s hurricane season or not!

Ummm… doesn’t that sound awful intimidating? Like a bully?

I understand the need to protect the little guy. And, if another country needs our help and asks for it, I’m in favor of assisting if appropriate.

I just don’t think Bush is in any position to be telling another country’s leaders not to intimidate another country. Just sounds a lot like the pot calling the kettle black if you ask me.

After inheriting my husband's old iPhone, there are a few issues that bother me. One of the biggest is the problem transferring appointments booked on the iPhone to Outlook.

After discovering this problem, I started with Apple forums for a solution. Nada. Nothing there to help whatsoever. Did some Googling and found suggestions of creating multiple calendars and a few other things that I didn’t want to try.

Finally came across HowardForums that offered a workaround. Albeit this isn’t a perfect solution, but it is better than most of the other suggestion I read. It doesn’t take much more additional time and DOES solve the problem of getting the events to show in Outlook if they are entered first on the iPhone.

In a nutshell, if you enter the item on the iPhone and it’s a one-time only event, you have to set it to recurring in order for it to transfer to Outlook. The trick is to set it for only one day. That will keep the item from repeating on your calendar.

Like I said - not a perfect solution, but at least it’s something to get around the issue for now.
